Get Involved

Saint Peter’s parish is filled with warm and welcoming members, who care about each other and our community and strive to make a difference through authentic, collective worship, joyful, informal gatherings, and community outreach programs.

Ministry at Saint Peter’s is the work of all the church’s members. Through ministry we carry on Jesus Christ’s work in the world according to the gifts and talents given to us by God.

Our Ministries

Christian Formation and Pastoral Care

Seasonal Studies

Adult educational programs are led by our clergy and parish church members. Based upon interests, we offer a series on church history, theology, or other topics. All adults and youth aged 16 and up are welcome to participate.

The Caregivers

The Caregivers are parish visitors who offer visits to the sick and home bound. These visits complement the pastoral care visits of the clergy.

Service in the World

The Outreach Committee

The Outreach committee coordinates our work serving the needy through cooperation with local agencies such as the Sycamore Food Pantry and Hope Haven. The Outreach Committee supervises the parish's giving to local and international organizations serving the oppressed and those in need. For a more detailed
list, please see our Outreach Ministry.

Children & Youth

Our children and youth are integral members of our congregation. We also take seriously the needs of children and youth to be in a safe and open environment.

Nursery Care

Children of all ages are welcome to be present and take an active part in our worship. Childcare for infants and toddlers three and under is available in the nursery, which is in the Parish House. Two certified adults will always be available in the nursery.

Christian Education for Children

During the school year, Sunday School is held on the first and third Sundays of the month for children ages 4 to 12 from 10:00 AM to 11 AM in the Parish House. Please check our calendar or call the office for class dates. Classes meet in the classroom in the lower level of the Parish House. Children are then able to come to the church to receive communion.
Fellowship and Hospitality

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

ECW is a national organization of the Episcopal Church. All women of the church are considered members of ECW. ECW members oversee funeral luncheons, coffee hours, and have oversight over the kitchen. Meetings are held several times during the year.

The Men’s Fellowship

The Men’s Fellowship is reforming and historically has gathered for conversation over breakfast on the second Saturday of the month. All men of the parish are welcome
to attend. The Fellowship also raises funds for service and special projects.

Buildings and Grounds

Under the leadership of the Junior Warden, this team ensures that our grounds are kept beautiful, and that our buildings are clean, safe and secure. Regular parish work days are scheduled twice a year, and the whole congregation is invited to help.

Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical ministry is vital to the function of our church. Acolytes serve at the altar with the priest. The Altar Guild is responsible for preparing and cleaning the sanctuary, care for vestments, linens and liturgical vessels. Eucharistic Ministers administer the sacramental wine during communion. Lectors are those who read the appointed lessons from the Bible during each service. Ushers welcome worshipers and distribute worship bulletins.

Music Ministry

Music is an integral part of worship at St. Peter’s. The choir helps to lead worship.
